Wilson was selected by Arizona in the third round of the 2001 NFL Draft, and he played 12 seasons for the Cardinals before being released and then signing with New England. photo courtesy arizona cardinals the New England Patriots March 16. According to multiple reports, it is a threeyear deal. "Really excited about this opportunity," he posted to his Twitter account after signing with his new club. "Great fans and great team!!!!" The 33-year-old Wilson, who was selected by the Cardinals in the third round of the 2001 NFL Draft and was the team's longest-tenured player when he was released, appeared in 15 games for Arizona in 2012 and finished with 54 tackles, one interception and one forced fumble. Although he started 14 games, his playing time began to dwindle, and each statistic was his lowest since an injury-shortened 2007 campaign in which he appeared in just nine contests. "A lot of people say a lot of different things about why I got shut down last year JUMP TO CONTENTS and all this other stuff, but the point is I feel like I still have three years left," Wilson told Bickley and MJ on XTRA Sports 910 in Phoenix. "It's just all about finding the right fit and just moving forward. "I'm happy. I'm not mad about anything. I'm happy because I know I put in 12 great years and I can't look back and regret anything about that. … I had a great 12-year run here. I've accomplished a lot of great things here." The 6-3, 230-pounder is one of just six players in NFL history with at least 25 sacks and 25 interceptions, and he is not far off from joining Rodney Harrison and Ray Lewis in the 30-30 club. He currently stands at 27 career picks and 25.5 career sacks, including eight in 2005, which set the NFL record for a defensive back. In 181 games and 162 starts, he has also totaled 893 tackles, 87 passes broken up and 15 forced fumbles. "In every franchise, there is a select group of players whose contributions earn them iconic status and, for us, Adrian Wilson will always be one of those players," Cardinals' team president Michael Bidwill said in a statement. "He joined us at a key time in our organization's evolution and helped lead us into a new era. We will always be grateful for that and look forward to the day when he's placed in the Ring of Honor at University of Phoenix Stadium alongside the other all-time great Cardinals."
