ARMY SALUTE
Michigan football's pregame festivities had a patriotic flavor for the Wolverines' game against Army
Sept. 7. U-M season ticket holders and a large donation from Toyota made more than 1,000 tickets avail-
able for veterans and military service members on VetTix.org.
Prior to kickoff, fans at The Big House watched the Black Daggers — the official U.S. Army special opera-
tions command parachute demonstration team — deliver the game ball from above by landing on the
Michigan Stadium field. During the national anthem, two large American flags were held on the field by
more than 150 Michigan faculty, staff and student veterans, who were also joined by Toyota military vet-
erans and executives representing the U.S. Toyota Veterans Association. There was also a pregame fly over
by the Michigan National Guard that included a CH-47 Chinook, a UH-60 Black Hawk and a UH-72 Lakota.
Following Michigan's hard-fought, 24-21 double-overtime victory, both teams joined together afterwards
in the end zone to sing the Army fight song in front of the West Point Cadets who were in attendance.
