Event Review:
DAUGHTER
Theres no denying it, folksy trio Daughter are tipped for great
things. Yet we wouldnt expect any less from a band who mastered
their debut album at Abbey Road.
We had the pleasure of
watching this sinless set
from the pews of St Marys
Church, Brighton. Front
woman Elena Tonra cut
a humble figure as she
performed the bands brand
of dark hymns for broken
hearts. Concerned musos
neednt have worried about
the unusual location; the
eerie reverb was a perfect
fit for their dark, fragile
sound and Tonras haunting
vocals made a fitting
sermon for a respectful
crowd. Performing crowdfavourite
Youth
from
their self-released EP, and
previous single Smother,
Elena, Igor and Remi also
gave excited fans a teaser of
whats to come, performing
Shallows
and
the
heartbreaking
Lifeforms
from the upcoming 10-track
record.
If You Leave is available
for pre-order now, with a
release date of March 18th.
