34 POTATO GROWER | NOVEMBER 2019 THE SHOW IS ON Irrigation is a big investment. For many growers, it is vitally important to productivity. If irrigation is a part of your operation—or if you are considering adding it to improve your crop yield and your bottom line—then the 2019 Irrigation Show & Education Week is where you need to be. Join others in the industry this Dec. 2-6 in Las Vegas to learn more about the latest irrigation products and technologies that could save you money, save you time and improve your operation's productivity. See the Latest New Products The Irrigation Show is unlike any other farm show because it focuses on irrigation. The exhibit hall is filled with irrigation companies ready to demo their products and technologies and answer any questions you have. The new product contest is a popular event that draws attendees' attention every year. Agriculture irrigation and specialty agriculture irrigation are two of the contest categories. This special event provides a front-row view of the future of ag irrigation. All new product contest entrants are showcased in a special area of the exhibit hall. This year, an expert panel will judge the contest live on the show floor. Each company is given the opportunity to provide a short presentation to the panel of judges. Unmatched Education & Learning Providing the highest quality of education has always been a strong feature of the Irrigation Show, and 2019 is no different. The new Industry Insights sessions are the place to learn about the latest industry trends, research projects, best practices and relevant topics. These sessions are 30 to 90 minutes long and range from single presenters to panel discussions. The agriculture track includes presentations on all types of irrigation systems and crops, including presentations discussing research specifically related to irrigation for potatoes. The bonus track offers sessions on a variety of other topics, ranging from severe weather safety to updates on the H-2A and H-2B guest worker program. For those wanting to learn core skills related to pumps, soils and irrigation techniques, IA University classes teach these concepts and practical skills. Classes are available throughout Irrigation Show week and are taught by respected industry experts. IA University classes are priced separately and require pre-registration. A full list of all Industry Insights sessions and IA University classes, including a description of each, is included on the Irrigation Show website. A Week in Colorful Vegas Las Vegas provides the exciting backdrop to all of the "extras" you will find during the Irrigation Show. Numerous entertaining and connecting events are planned throughout the week to round off your experience at the show. The opening-night party kicks off the week with fun, food, drinks and great conversation. The general session is a great opportunity to catch up on what is happening in the industry and see who is being honored with the annual IA awards. The general session ends on a high note, as the winners of the new product contest are announced. The keynote address is always a highlight for those attending the show. This year's speaker is Jim Abbott, the famous one-handed Major League Baseball pitcher. His story about adapting and overcoming adversity to achieve his goals is sure to be unique and inspirational. Hosting a meeting in Las Vegas also provides unique proximity to some of our nation's most interesting water-related landmarks. The IA has planned two special tours available to those attending the Irrigation Show. One tour includes a behind-the- scenes look at the famous Fountains of Bellagio, and the other tour takes participants through the inner workings of the Hoover Dam. These tours are scheduled for Friday, Dec. 6, and require additional payment. As an added bonus, the 2019 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo is in town Dec. 5-14.
