2018 OPENED RINK BREAKDOWN CONCRETE RINK FLOOR LIGHTING IN ARENA LED "We had any issues that any normal rink would have," Lee said. "I was taking 3 a.m. calls for about the first month or so. But now we're in a good spot." On August 2018, the new StarCenter in Mansfield was ready for skaters of all ages. Becoming officially open for business was a big moment for the entire community. Some residents spent countless hours trying to make this dream become a reality, including Jenny Conrad. Her daughter was one of the first figure skaters to perform on the new sheets of ice. Her son also played in the first youth hockey tournament held at the facility. "I got teared up watching her skate," Conrad told the Fort Worth Star Telegram back in 2018. "I can't believe this is finally a reality. Just to see her so happy and my son is so happy to skate here in Mansfield. It's a dream come true." The Conrad family was a part of the celebration that brought out hundreds of Mansfield residents. There were hockey clinics along with a street hockey game out- side of the arena. "It was a long process getting it built but it was fun," Lee said.
