www.oneworldhotel.com.my 9 JAN-FEB 2020 MEETINGS & CONVENTIONS MCMAG-ASIA.COM Abu Dhabi's Yas Island Arena is now Etihad Arena A new mega entertainment venue on Abu Dhabi's iconic Yas Island - Yas Bay Arena - has been given a fresh name. Yas Island developer Miral announced that Etihad Airways signed an exclusive naming rights deal, with the venue to be renamed the Etihad Arena. With a capacity of up to 18,000 people, the new multi- purpose indoor venue will be able to host large-scale and private events including sporting competitions, corporate events, cultural performances and concerts. The Etihad Arena, to be opened sometime this year, is part of Yas Bay, a mixed-use development located on the southern end of Yas Island. Yas Bay encompasses three areas: Yas Bay Waterfront, the Residences at Yas Bay and twofour54. UNIQUE VENUES The 18,000-capacity Etihad Arena is a multipurpose indoor entertainment venue on Yas Island set to open doors in 2020. this new centre will allow industry players to host larger conferences and events, seating 2,000 delegates. Adjacent to the centre is the JW Marriott Hotel Nara, which is also scheduled to open this year, marking the rst JW brand hotel in Japan. Nara Prefectural Government is determined to strengthen the prole of Nara as a MICE destination, having joined the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) in 2019. As the UNWTO Regional Support Oce for Asia and the Pacic (RSOAP) is now based in the Japanese city, Nara looks forward to enhancing the framework for cooperation with UNWTO particularly in the eld of culinary. Nara was selected by Japan Tourism Agency in 2019 as Japan's bidding city for UNWTO World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism 2022. The 2,000-seater Nara Prefectural Convention Center is set to open in the Spring of 2020.
