16 THE WOLVERINE MARCH 2020   INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS The Big Ten's Returning Percentage Of Snaps In 2020 Pro Football Focus (PFF) keeps track of every player on every snap of every game in college football through- out each season. The outlet recently looked at each Big Ten team and what percent- age of snaps from last fall they have returning in 2020. The Wolverines lose quite a bit from the 2019 season, the most notable being the passing snaps from Shea Patterson, and the pass and run blocking snaps from four starters on the offen- sive line — left guard Ben Bredeson, right guard Mi- chael Onwenu, center Ce- sar Ruiz and left tackle Jon Runyan Jr. Here's a look at the break- down for the entire league: Big Ten Teams — Percentage of Returning Snaps OFFENSE Team Passing Rushing Pass Routes Pass Blocking Run Blocking Illinois 99.8% 38.9% 76.1% 75.9% 82.0% Indiana 99.8% 97.1% 74.5% 56.7% 66.4% Iowa 2.3% 67.5% 84.2% 60.9% 61.5% Maryland 99.8% 31.7% 73.8% 57.7% 72.5% Michigan 7.4% 79.6% 55.3% 26.8% 33.0% Michigan State 4.9% 69.5% 54.0% 89.2% 69.4% Minnesota 99.2% 35.5% 61.4% 57.6% 61.6% Nebraska 99.8% 95.7% 72.8% 99.7% 81.7% Northwestern 96.7% 96.5% 92.2% 80.3% 86.4% Ohio State 88.9% 46.5% 49.6% 61.8% 64.3% Penn State 100% 95.8% 64.2% 81.7% 74.0% Purdue 79.7% 92.2% 81.9% 74.7% 78.5% Rutgers 85.4% 89.8% 74.4% 16.9% 47.6% Wisconsin 100% 37.5% 63.1% 56.2% 66.1% DEFENSE Team Coverage Run Defense Pass Rush Illinois 78.4% 67.6% 54.5% Indiana 71.8% 69.8% 70.3% Iowa 62.2% 57.7% 52.1% Maryland 61.1% 48.4% 30.3% Michigan 51.5% 49.6% 47.6% Michigan State 48.7% 44.8% 45.8% Minnesota 29.7% 26.7% 33.4% Nebraska 69.2% 59.4% 39.5% Northwestern 89.5% 80.4% 61.2% Ohio State 43.5% 48.3% 46.4% Penn State 64.0% 51.3% 37.5% Purdue 71.2% 75.6% 79.8% Rutgers 60.5% 61.0% 52.5% Wisconsin 87.2% 81.1% 69.7% — Clayton Sayfie Student-Athlete Of The Month Men's Basketball Redshirt Junior Austin Davis U-M basketball redshirt junior forward Austin Davis had been a third big man, the second one off the bench in many cases, during his first two seasons in Ann Arbor. He played in 16 games in 2017-18 and 25 games in 2018-19, mostly getting minutes when U-M's frontline was in foul trouble. He at- tempted 33 total shots in those two seasons combined, making 21 for an efficient shooting clip of 63.6 percent. Davis' career high in scoring com- ing into this season was six points in a 28-point win over Chattanooga in 2018-19. He had played 10 minutes or more in a game just twice, against Alabama A&M in 2017-18 and against Chattanooga in 2018-19. Despite not getting a lot of oppor- tunities, Davis has been a valuable member to the team throughout his four years in a program that has had much success in that span. The move- ment science major has been an aca- Davis made 19 of 22 shots (86.4 percent) and averaged 7.3 points and 3.2 rebounds in 11.0 minutes per outing to help U-M win five of six games from Jan. 28 to Feb. 16.
