OPPOSITE: Hog-Nosed Snake Victoria, Texas, USA By Colton Fischer, age 16 “I was walking in our yard one evening when I found this snake crawling around. I ran up to my house to grab my camera. When I returned, the snake had coiled up beautifully. This individual was the largest hog-nosed snake I have ever seen.” Canon EOS 40D with 28-135mm lens; 1/125 sec at ƒ/5.6; ISO 500; hand-held. African Sacred Ibis LC de Villiers Sports Grounds, South Africa By Wynand van Wyk, age 14 “While I was photographing a breeding pair of African sacred ibis, I noticed that one bird was following a pattern as it collected nesting materials. When he flew off again, I set up my camera and waited for him to return. Everything was on my side as he came in and spread his wings over the lush plant growth.” Canon 40D with 500mm lens; 1/1250 sec at ƒ/8; ISO 400; tripod. 31
