There is much to do and see here in our city, and now is the time to prepare to get out-and-about to experience the sights and sounds that Idaho Falls has to offer. Spring brings the return of our weekly Farmer's Market along Memorial Drive. If you've never experienced this fun, family event come see what has made it an annual favorite. Plan for a day along the river enjoying all the food and fun every Saturday from April to October. Your furry family friends will enjoy our newly upgraded dog park. Recent improvements include a third section for dogs to play in, dog tunnels, shelters for pet owners to relax in, parking lot improvements a new restroom and drinking fountains for people and dogs. We are also making plans to open Idaho Falls' very first splash pad later this summer. Located at Reinhart Park. When fully built, the 3,000 square foot splash pad will include sun shades, a picnic area, brand new restrooms and changing facilities. Idaho Falls families have anticipated this newest amenity for a long time. People young and old will find something to entertain and delight at the "best little zoo in the west." Our ever- expanding and improving Idaho Falls Zoo and park will see even more exciting changes in coming years as historic Funland recently was purchased by the City of Idaho Falls. This classic, much loved amenity will eventually become part of the Idaho Falls Zoo. Funland renovations will take several years to complete, but the wait will be worth the time to bring the historic rides and equipment back to life. Also, residents interested in serving on a committee to preserve Funland's history and shape its future can contact our Parks & Recreation Department to lend your voice to shape the future of this historic and very special community amenity. And finally, what would summer be without The War Bonnet Round Up, Idaho's Oldest Rodeo? From July 30 to August 1, Idaho Falls becomes the hub for rodeo excitement with the biggest and best rodeo talent from around the world. Cowboys and cowgirls of all skill levels will be here to help celebrate the history and heritage of Idaho and Idaho Falls. Don't miss all the great rodeo action. Whether it's just getting out and enjoying one of our beautiful parks or trails, participating in city sports and athletic leagues, or joining in our many special events and activities, there is a little something for everyone. Get out and enjoy all the best that Idaho Falls has to offer. We hope to see you out there!
