ACETO DIQUAT: Aceto Diquat 2L is for use as a desiccant in potato production is currently being marketed by Aceto Agricultural Chemicals Corporation. This new Diquat product was field tested in 2009 at several universities, including Washington State University, UI and North Dakota State University. The new Aceto Diquat 2L is a liquid, 2-lb-per- gallon active ingredient and is packaged in a 2- x 2.5-gallon case. FMC CORPORATION AIM: Potato producers can count on Aim EC herbicide from FMC for effective potato desiccation. Aim EC has a unique mode of action that provides a more optimal desiccation effect, allowing more nutrients to pass through the stolon and into the tuber. Aceto has been serving the industry for over 30 years with high-quality products for potato storage such as Sprout Nip, Amplify and Shield. Introducing Aceto Diquat 2L is a natural extension of that service. Visit www.aceto.com. This slightly slower effect leads to higher-quality potatoes. Potatoes treated with Aim EC have better skin set, which reduces damage during harvest, reduces susceptibility to disease and minimizes storage shrinkage. Potatoes also have a more uniform shape, better frying qualities and better sugar preservation when Aim EC is used at desiccation. In all, producers who have used Aim EC have seen improved value of their crops. Applied at harvest, Aim EC facilitates a clean break between the stolon and tuber, resulting in better quality and reduced stem-end browning. It can also trigger burndown of broadleaf weeds such as Eastern black nightshade. Visit FMCcrop.com.
