30 THE WOLVERINE AUGUST 2020 and earn one of her three aforemen- tioned All-America awards. — Clayton Sayfie FIELD HOCKEY RACHAEL MACK (2010-13) She put together a stellar four-year career with the Maize and Blue that saw her become the first four-time National Field Hockey Coaches As- sociation (NFHCA) All-American in U-M history. Mack's All-America hon- ors gradually increased throughout her career, claiming third-team status in both 2010 and 2011, second-team honors in 2012 and finally first-team recognition in 2013. Her 21-goal, six-assist senior cam- paign was her best as a Wolverine, and culminated in Big Ten Player of the Year and NFHCA West Region Player of the Year accolades. The Bromsgrove, England, native holds the Michigan field hockey records for both goals (73) and points (166), tally- ing a minimum of 16 of the latter dur- ing each of her four collegiate years. One of the first significant achieve- ments of Mack's career came in the Big Ten Tournament during her fresh- man season, when she was named the event's MVP after registering 10 points during the Wolverines' three games en route to the tournament title. — Austin Fox MEN'S GOLF KYLE MUELLER (2015-18) Mueller was a standout performer from the time he arrived in Ann Ar- bor until the conclusion of his col- legiate career, starting all 50 events and never missing one. He was twice named a Golf Coaches Association of America PING All-American, earn- ing second-team laurels as a senior and honorable mention the year prior. He became the first U-M golfer to earn All-Big Ten status four times, earning three first-team laurels after a second-team honor as a freshman. The Athens, Ga., native made four NCAA postseason appearances and won the 2018 NCAA Regional to ad- vance to the second NCAA Cham- pionships of his career (received an individual invitation to the finals in 2015). He finished his career with 25 top- 10 finishes, while racking up six in- dividual titles, which tied the record for the most in U-M history. He was the first Wolverine to pace the squad in scoring all four seasons, and owns school records for low- est single round (7-under-par 63), 36-hole (7-under 135) and 54-hole (15-under 198) tournament records, in addition to all four single-season class scoring average records. — Clayton Sayfie WOMEN'S GOLF ELODIE VAN DIEVOET (2016-19) Van Dievoet squeezed in her ca- reer just in time to be the best of the decade for U-M women's golf. She wasn't just the most outstanding of FOOTBALL DENARD ROBINSON (2009-12) Michigan football was only relevant during the Rich Rodriguez era because of No. 16. "Shoelace" scored the first time he ever touched the ball, 43 yards on a broken play against Western Michigan in 2009, to set the tone for his record-setting career. When it was over, he'd go down as one of the most dynamic players in Michigan football's storied history. Robinson accounted for a school-record 502 of Michigan's 532 yards in his second start, a win at Notre Dame in 2010. He finished sixth in the Heisman Trophy balloting that year and won The Chicago Tribune Silver Football as the Big Ten's Most Valuable Player. He was also named U-M's Most Valuable Player, the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and first-team All-Big Ten (media) after notching 256 carries for 1,702 yards and 14 touchdowns. He finished as the nation's fourth-leading rusher (130.9 average). He eclipsed 1,000 yards on the ground again as a junior and repeated as U-M's MVP. Injuries slowed him during his senior year, but Robinson still rushed for more than 1,200 yards and set the NCAA record for career rushing yards by a quarterback (4,495). He also broke the national single-season record for quarterback rushing yards, and became the first player in NCAA history to pass for 2,500 yards and rush for 1,500 yards in the same year in 2010. — Chris Balas PHOTO BY LON HORWEDEL
