Doing yard work? Going for a hike? It's a safe bet that you'll find me wearing one of my many technical fabric riding shirts. While I'd have no problem wearing them out in public, I don't feel quite as put together as I did when wearing the An Capall Performance polos. They're classy enough that I could just as easily wear them on a trip to town. Made in Los Angeles from recycled water bottles, the shirts have UPF 50 sun protection, are antibacterial and are made with a wicking fabric. The material is thicker than some other tech fabrics I've tried, and the result is a more professional appearance, but the shirts were also a little hotter. Though I had no problem wearing them when the temperatures were in the mid-80s, I skipped them on hotter days. They'll be perfect for transitioning from summer to fall and for riding in the south all winter. I have a longer torso and arms, which sometimes means I look like a kid who went through a growth spurt and hasn't replaced her wardrobe when I wear long sleeves, but that wasn't a problem with these shirts. They have plenty of length. The shirts are fitted, and I felt they ran a little small when it came to width, so those looking for a looser fit may want to size up. The material is 8 percent Spandex, so it does have some stretch. The company, which donates 10 percent of its profits to ocean clean-up efforts, makes show shirts and polos, which are available in short- and long- sleeved versions for women and men. Colors vary by style, and the women's shirts are $145 for short sleeves and $165 for long; men's polos are $150 for short sleeves and $165 for long. You can select a carbon-neutral shipping option for less than $1 extra. Available at AnCapallEquestrian.com.
