A Two-Race Season Means A Must Win For Several Racers Competing In 2020 THE CONTENDERS By SCORE Journal Staff PHOTOS BY Jack Wright / nMedia3 The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically changed the 2020 SCORE World Desert Championship which will change how racers approach this two-race season. Along with numerous safety precautions and no SCORE fans on the start/finish line, the 2020 season also brings out some of the best racers who aren’t about to let a race win or season championship slip away. Within the SCORE Trophy Truck division alone the top racers are ready to compete, many utilizing new AWD vehicles which will offer an advantage in the silt. In other classes, former winners and champions return in new classes that are also shaking up the season, but will also make for very exciting racing. SCORE Trophy Truck Andy McMillin The 2019 SCORE World Desert Overall and Trophy Truck Champion is returning this season for a second title. With a new AWD truck and two of SCORE’s most prestigious races to win, McMillin is one of the top competitors in all of off-road racing and will bring his years of experience to win. Dan McMillin Dan McMillin has consistently finished in top positions with some of the best off-road racers in the world. With a new 4 Wheel Parts sponsorship, he’s ready to take a victory with his consistent driving and AWD SCORE Trophy Truck that he has been racing in other venues this year to prepare for the SCORE season. TT Legends Robbie Pierce & Bobby Patton Owner of Jimco and safety equipment advocate Robbie Pierce is once again teaming up with Los Angeles Dodger baseball team owner Bobby Patton and will compete this season in the SCORE Trophy Truck Legends class. While Patton has more experience behind the wheel after competing in 2019, Pierce brings a long history of experience to the team. Clyde Stacy RPM Off-Road was not planning on participating in 2020, but with the COVID-19 pandemic putting a halt to most off-road racing, SCORE Trophy Truck Legends racer Clyde Stacy is returning to compete this season, and has plenty of experience to win a championship title. Class 1 Brock Dickerson The former Class 10 champion will be racing in Class 1 in a new Jimco buggy this season. Dickerson has shaken down the buggy this year in other racing venues and is excited to be back competing in SCORE. Pro UTV FI Wayne Matlock The 2019 Pro UTV Champion returns to retain his crown in what will be two fast races this season. With a finely tuned Polaris RZR, Matlock will undoubtedly be a strong contender for another championship in this class. Craig Scanlon The winner of the 2019 SCORE Baja 500, Craig Scanlon is ready to do it again in his Polaris RZR sponsored by 4 Wheel Parts. He will have some tough competition, but he’s already proved he is a top driver in this very competitive class. Pro UTV NA Kristen Matlock The Ironwoman of SCORE’s Pro UTV NA Class is likely to be the competitor to beat in the Pro UTV N/A class this season. With a bit of luck and no mechanical issues, she is likely to also take home the Pro UTV Overall championship title from her husband Wayne. Travis Wells The 2019 Pro UTV NA Champion can’t be counted out as one of this year’s toughest competitors. He edged out Kristen Matlock to win the championship and can do it again if everything goes well this season. Pro Moto Classes Mark Samuels Mark Samuels and Justin Morgan will once again be riding the 1x Honda CRF450R. This time lead by Samuels, the duo remains undefeated in the Pro Moto Unlimited class and will give every competitor in that class a difficult time in taking away their championship this year. Santiago Creel The leader of the Monkey Business team will be participating in several classes this SCORE season. Along with being a strong competitor in the Pro Moto Unlimited division, he will also be driving in the SCORE Trophy Truck Spec class. Colton Udal Udall is a 4x Pro Moto Unlimited Champion that rose from the Honda Racing team to dominate the class. After injuries that limited his riding he’s back with riders Derek Aussebauer and Nick Garvin who will help him try for a fifth championship.
