s p e c i a l a d v e r t i s i n g s e c t i o n October 2020 NOTABLE NORTHSHORE A HEARING DOCTOR FOR THE AGES TO B I A S & B AT T I T E sk hearing-health expert and author Brian Fligor, Ph.D., PASC, about the sounds that make him smile, and the married father of four will tell you without hesitation. High on his list? His children's laughter and the dling of an acoustic guitar. As president of Tobias & Battite in Beverly and Boston—where he's also a staff audiologist—the good doctor makes it his business to reconnect people to the sounds that matter most, so it's no wonder his own favorite sounds are top of mind. "People often don't realize just how important hearing is in their lives until they start having difficulty," says Dr. Fligor. "Sound helps keep us engaged at every age, which is why treatment and prevention play critical roles in hearing health and wellness." Those critical intersections have long driven the Ohio native, who holds a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering and a doctorate in audiology from Boston University. He sees patients of all ages and has a special interest in sound disorders and noise-induced hearing loss, particularly in musicians. Dr. Fligor's expertise keeps him busy at the practice and in the media, with major outlets including ABC, CBS, NBC, Consumer Reports, Boston Globe, New York Times, Fast Company, and others seeking out his insights. In addition, Dr. Fligor has written or co-written journal articles on a range of issues such as pediatric ototoxicity, noise exposure, and links between hearing loss and cystic fibrosis. He is the author of the 2015 book, Understanding Childhood Hearing Loss: Whole Family Approaches to Living and Thriving, a guide for parents navigating a child's hearing condition. Always innovating, he has taken earmolds digital with 3D ear scanning. The next-level approach— developed by Massachusetts-based technology company Lantos Technologies, where Dr. Fligor is chief audiology officer—has helped him expand remote-care options in today's changing world. 266 Cabot Street Beverly, MA 978-712-2197 16 Temple Pl Boston, MA 617-830-3273 tobias-battite.com TOBIAS & BATTITE A "Community members have trusted Tobias & Battite with their hearing health for over 45 years and counting, and we'll proudly continue providing the highest-quality care."
