Anatomy Of A Chase Truck While they differ in size and purpose, chase trucks are a necessary part of SCORE Most SCORE racers have had their vehicles break-down in the middle of the desert at one time or another. Chase teams who have the spare parts and tools to make repairs have helped win races on many occasions. Carrying all of that equipment requires a well-equipped chase truck that can be anything from a stock pickup truck to a fully-customized vehicle ready to make repairs on the spot. Herbst/Smith Fabrication who builds both race and chase vehicles for Terrible Herbst Motorsports, has a variety of chase vehicles that are examples of what a vehicle should be outfitted with. Terrible’s Shop Manager, Todd Gorsuch, explains some of the basic items any chase truck should have. These include spare tires, drivetrain parts, all kinds of tools and more. By Dan Sanchez
