Girls are empowered and they empower each other thanks in large
credit to you and the ability for them to play on a hockey team. It's
something you carry with you long after your playing days are over.
It's funny, you see all these 'pioneers' but to us, you were just being
mom. You were playing hockey, going out of town, traveling the
world and having fun while really breaking down barriers for future
generations of women and girls. You don't realize all that you've
done until later. I'm in awe of you, and I appreciate you being the
mom and role model you have and continue to be.
Love, Becky
Thank you for giving countless hours of time volunteering on
your nights and weekends to make hockey a tangible
opportunity for girls. I saw firsthand the early frustrations, and
the determination and passion you had to have to create some
equality in the sport. Without your hard work, my own girls
would not be enjoying playing hockey and cheering on the USA
Women's team every chance they get. I think if all of us put
1/10th of the time you did towards a cause we believe in, the
world would be a much better place.
Love, Lisa
