USICERINKS.COM NOVEMBER.DECEMBER.2020 / 27 Who doesn't love a chiller room project? We at Schneider Arena, located on the campus of Providence College, used a sixth-month shutdown period to tackle a chiller room replacement. The current system had been in place for nearly 20 years and served as the main ice refrigeration system, as well as the chilled water unit for the are- na's HVAC system for many years. The project also addressed updat- ing some aging infrastructure in both the refrigeration room as well as in the header trench. In addition to the equipment upgrades, we also addressed some operational needs that included deep- ening and enlarging our snow melt pit, excavating and re-doing the ice resurfacer tunnel by adding a rubber- ized tire track and adding an ice resur- facer water fill meter. Out on the slab, we added some more temperature sensors bringing our total to five slab sensors and one ice surface sensor. 2 apply.gogc.com Make the play... with financing that's right for your rink.
