OPERATIONAL • Shave down ice surface to 1/4" thickness over hockey markings and logos. • Increase refrigeration set points to maintain ice surface temperature between 24º and 26º F. • Unplug or turn off equipment that is not in use including: , Vending machines , Arcade games , Backlit signage & reader boards , Office equipment , Concessions equipment • Adjust HVAC system set points. ,Heating settings: 65ºF and 40% Relative Humidity ,Cooling settings: 80º F and 60% Relative Humidity • Keep outside air dampers closed or set to minimum setting and keep ventilation fans shut off when staff is not in the building. • Have your hot water heaters shut off and tanks drained. • Consult a plumbing professional for boiler and chilled water equipment recommendations. PROGRAMMING AND SCHEDULING Is your message current, imaginative and stride-for-stride with the activity inside your rink? • If you are able to safely stack user groups to maximize your operating hours, do so. ,Opening for a lone 2-hour rental or activity makes little financial sense when you factor in payroll and energy costs. You are better off staying closed for the day. • Communicate with your user groups frequently. ,Though we are a customer service industry, rink managers must make sound business decisions.
