62 THE WOLVERINE JANUARY 2021 BY AUSTIN FOX T ampa Bay Buccaneers quarter- back Tom Brady put on a remark- able performance in his squad's 47-7 triumph at Detroit Dec. 26. The 43-year-old signal-caller connected on 22 of 27 passes (81.5 percent) for 348 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions … in the first half. Brady didn't even play in the game's final two quarters, with Tampa Bay holding a commanding 34-0 lead at the intermission. The former Wolverine set or matched several records in the pro- cess. His second touchdown pass of the day was his 34th of the season, marking a Tampa Bay franchise re- cord. Per NFL.com, it was also just the second time since at least 1991 a quarterback reached halftime with a minimum of 340 passing yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. The only other instance the scenario occurred since '91 was done by none other than Brady, when he achieved the feat in a 59-0 destruction of the Tennessee Titans in 2009. The signal-caller also made history by simply taking the field Dec. 26. Brady became just the fourth non- special teamer to play in 300 regular- season NFL contests, joining Hall of Famers George Blanda, Brett Favre and Jerry Rice.
