After two years in the trade, he enrolled at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston and earned a degree in building construction technology. Working his way through the trades as a carpenter, finish carpenter, and project manager, he started Premier Builders in 1986. Ten years later, in 1996, Ken brought the millwork and cabinetmaking aspects of his projects in-house. In its 35 years of business, the company has grown to as many as 20 employees and has strengthened its presence in the high-end residential and commercial interiors markets. As a general contractor, Premier Builders manages the construction of custom homes, large and small remodeling projects and renovations, and architectural millwork projects, as well as commercial, office, and retail interiors. Premier Builder's cabinet shop is located across the street from their main office and occupies approximately 13,000 square feet, with six full time shop employees. They fabricate, finish, and install all aspects of residential and commercial millwork including cabinets, moldings, furniture, and architectural details. The millwork team has completed beautiful interiors throughout the Boston and North Shore areas as well as specific projects from Maine to Florida. The quality of work and the professionalism of the team are the foundation of their culture. Ken's son Matthew re-joined the business in 2016 after earning his construction management degree at Wentworth and working as a project manager for a large commercial construction company in Boston. His role as project manager and estimator is helping Premier Builders to continue to grow with the same values and emphasis on relationships, quality, communication, and teamwork. Ken is the president of Premier Builders and has an active role in the day-to-day operations with sales, estimating, and business management.
