Visit Savannah and Visit Tybee Island

5 I cannot begin to compliment Visit Savannah highly enough for their amazing support during our 2020 GSAE Annual Meeting. Through a very complicated date change due to COVID-19, we were so impressed by the professionalism and creativity of the team. I cannot imagine planning this complex, high-pressure event with any other host city. Truly, Visit Savannah helped us show the hospitality and association community how a safe, fun, and educational in-person meeting can occur with panache and verve. We are grateful for your help in producing a successful road map to share with our association community. Well done! WENDY W. KAVANAGH, CAE President, Georgia Society of Association Executives As you can imagine, we definitely had concerns about having our annual Summer Training Conference in Savannah during the pandemic. However, we worked closely with our conference hotel and the Savannah Convention Center to make sure that we were able to reduce the threat of contracting / spreading the COVID-19 virus. Although the attendance numbers were smaller due to the pandemic, our conference still attracted 445 attendees and 88 exhibitors. This is a testament to the increased confidence that GACP and its membership had in the SCC's plan to host our conference in this COVID-19 environment. Additional signage, hand sanitation stations, cleaning protocols, increased social distancing in training and exhibition areas and food / beverage serving protocols were all designed to reduce the risk to our members as well as SCC employees. Although virtual meetings are becoming commonplace, we believed that an in-person conference was important. We consider our 2020 Summer Training Conference to have been a huge success. We appreciate everything that you and VisitSavannah did to help make our conference a success. A.A. The city has an authentic old-world charm, outstanding hotels and restaurants, and that one-of-a-kind experience that makes it worth the trip. Planning a meeting in Savannah is a breeze – literally and figuratively. The downtown and historic district are easy to navigate. It is a city built for walking, and the riverfront has options on both sides of the port that offer amazing views and refreshing options. It has excellent transportation infrastructure, whether you are driving or flying into SAV – Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport. But it is that "cool" factor that I believe draws meeting planners because we are always looking to destinations that support strong attendance. Visit Savannah delivers!
