Where William's life was saved William DeJong is a dairyman in Jerome, Idaho. He is a man of faith, who most enjoys spending time with his wife Renee and three children. While working on his dairy, William was run over by a 30-ton feed truck, crushing both his legs and leaving him perilously close to death. He was air-flighted to EIRMC's Burn Center to treat major traumatic wounds. During his three month stay at EIRMC, William underwent 14 surgeries, dozens of hyperbaric wound sessions, and received more than 104 units of blood, replacing his entire blood volume several times over. Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center is the region's largest medical facility, caring for the most critically ill and injured residents of our region. We are a Level II Trauma Center, with the most experienced ER nurses and physicians in the area, as well as the only Burn Center in Idaho. Advanced services, led by trained burn and reconstructive surgeons, include a Burn ICU, specialized surgical procedures, ventilator-compatible hyperbaric oxygen chambers, and outpatient wound care.
