Where William's
life was saved
William DeJong is a dairyman in Jerome, Idaho. He is a man
of faith, who most enjoys spending time with his wife Renee
and three children. While working on his dairy, William was run
over by a 30-ton feed truck, crushing both his legs and leaving
him perilously close to death. He was air-flighted to EIRMC's
Burn Center to treat major traumatic wounds. During his
three month stay at EIRMC, William underwent 14 surgeries,
dozens of hyperbaric wound sessions, and received more than
104 units of blood, replacing his entire blood volume several
times over.
Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center is the region's largest
medical facility, caring for the most critically ill and injured
residents of our region. We are a Level II Trauma Center, with
the most experienced ER nurses and physicians in the area, as
well as the only Burn Center in Idaho. Advanced services, led
by trained burn and reconstructive surgeons, include a Burn
ICU, specialized surgical procedures, ventilator-compatible
hyperbaric oxygen chambers, and outpatient wound care.
