When crisis hits our neighbors in need, Samaritan House is their
anchor. For more than 30 years, the iconic Denver shelter has
provided more than 3.5 million nights of shelter to those
experiencing the trauma of hunger, homelessness, job loss
and destitution. We are their refuge and their hope.
The monumental effort to restore the aging shelter will ensure it
continues to serve for decades to come. Although who we serve
hasn't changed, how we serve has. The renovations are rooted
in a trauma-informed approach to address the distinct needs
of the families, men, women and veterans who seek help.
Our compassionate staff puts them on a trajectory of stability,
self-sufficiency and healing. Many experience restored hope.
Beyond the individual, giving through Samaritan House is inextricably
linked to the good of our community. The profound impact of
addressing one person's challenges positively supports extended
families and local economic growth. Research shows that donations
to social services have ripple effects extending for generations.
