24 Zach Parise, Minnesota Wild, Bloomington "WE HAD A POND my dad would shovel off and that's where we skated. I was trying everything. I was probably driving my dad nuts trying all these fancy things. Anything we saw, we were trying. "Jax [Parise's oldest son] plays outdoor hockey all the time. He loves it. Our neighbors have a rink in their front yard so he goes out there and skates all the time. That's how every kid grows up here. I'm glad he gets that opportunity to do that and skate outside and kind of be brought up the way I was. The best part is seeing how much he likes it. He's asking to do it. He wants to be out there to do it, so that makes it fun for me." Odeen Tufto, Quinnipiac Bobcats, Chaska "When I look back, (outdoor hockey) helped me grow so much. I think as a Minnesota kid, there's nothing better than being out on the pond or the backyard rink on a winter night. …Just getting out on the rink and playing pond hockey and just having fun being a little competitive, it makes you grow your game. I think it's important for kids growing up, no matter how young or whether you're high school.
