2020 VC E XECUTIVE COMPENSATION SURVE Y
VP Growth
VP Marketing
An increased prominence of Growth and Marketing
related roles was seen in 2020. This indicates a growing
importance of user acquisition, customer adoption, and
ultimately revenue. Marketing has traditionally been used
to increase lead generation and sales, but we've seen a
reenergized effort in this arena when implemented in
conjunction with a growth leader. The growth function
spans the organization to look at areas of optimization
including, but not limited to business development, sales,
product, and marketing for a holisitc approach to the
customer journey.

VP People
VP Human Resources
2020 showed a decrease in the prevalence of talent
and human resources-related roles. This decrease could
be tied to potential pauses in hiring due to COVID-19,
outsourcing of the HR function, or the beginning of a
shift from employee-focused organizations.
