QB player bios Position Coach Al Borges is in his 26th year as a collegiate coach and second stint as a member of head man Brady Hoke's staff (San Diego State from 2009-10). A two-time nominee for the Frank Boyles Assistant Coach of the Year award, Borges enters his third year as Michigan's offensive coordinator/ quarterbacks coach. Under his watch, the U-M offense averaged 383.1 yards and 29.8 points per game en route to an 8-5 record and an appearance in the 2013 Outback Bowl. He orchestrated a varied offense in 2012, in which both Denard Robinson and Devin Gardner ran plays together on offense. With Robinson gone, Gardner must run the offense, and Borges looks to continue the positive momentum of the Maize and Blue ground attack with a stable of running backs ready to contribute. Prior to his position in Ann Arbor, he led offenses at San Diego State (2009-10), Auburn (2004-07), Indiana (2002-03), California (2001), UCLA (1996-2000) and Oregon (1995).
