30 OBITUARIES JUNE 20-26, 2013 | William H. Watt Jr., 88, of North Smithfield, formerly of Lincoln, died June 16. He was the husband of the late Rita C. (Bachand) Watt. He leaves two sons, William H. Watt III of Laconia, N.H., and Wayne R. Watt of Scituate; and two grandsons and a greatgranddaughter. Dorothy Sweatt, 57, of Cumberland, died June 10. She leaves her husband, Walt Sweatt; her mother, Rose ( Jaryniak) Masnyk of Woonsocket; two sons, Lee Sweatt and Bill Sweatt, both of Denver, Colo.; two brothers, Ores Masnyk and Steven Masnyk; and two sisters, valley breeze | cumberland lincoln edition Antonina Clark and Alice Gaudreau. Rita B. Prosser, 76, of Lincoln, died June 11. She was the wife of the late Thomas G. Prosser Sr. She leaves a son, Thomas G. Prosser Jr.; two daughters, Theresa Brierley and Brenda M. Lemieux; a brother, Arthur Benoit; and five grandchildren and a greatgrandson. James B. Downing of Cumberland died June 15. He leaves his wife, Kathleen (Peranzi) Downing; his children, James B. Downing Jr. of Seekonk, Mass., and Michaela Kent of Pawtucket; and six grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. Also, Daniel Riendeau of Cumberland lost his father, Raymond E. Riendeau, 80, of Pawtucket, June 14. Philip J. Welsh of Cumberland lost his mother, Mary B. Welsh, 80, of Pawtucket, June 14. Ronald T. Lariviere of Cumberland lost his mother, and Pauline Conner, also of Cumberland, lost her sister, Leona C. Lariviere, 81, of Woonsocket, June 13. Kwai Ying Lee and Jenny Leung, both of Lincoln, lost their mother, Ho Wong Ip, 94, of Pawtucket, June 9. Alberta M. McArdle Alberta M. (Cleary) McArdle, 91, formerly of Beach Avenue, Warwick, died peacefully Sunday MCARDLE morning, June 16, 2013, at Emerald Bay Manor in Cumberland. She was the wife of the late Henry Patrick McArdle. Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Albert L. and Sidulia (Roy) Cleary, and the sister of Mary F. Mahar of Pascoag and the late James Cleary. She was a graduate of Classical High School. Alberta retired from the Rhode Island Department of Employment Security as an employment counselor. In retirement, Alberta shared her faith by working with the SPRED Program (special religious development) for many years at St. Benedict Church. Her Catholic faith was a very important part of her life and there was nothing she loved more than sharing it with people with special needs and bringing them to the sacraments. She also was a faithful member of the Tuesday Rosary Group. She is survived by her four daughters, Patricia Murley and Kathleen McArdle, both of Burke, Va., Veronica Incera of Warwick, and Joyce Gustafson of Cumberland. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Her funeral was held Wednesday at 9:45 a.m. from the Russell J. Boyle Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Saint Benedict Church, 135 Beach Ave., Warwick. Burial was in St. Ann Cemetery. Hering Annemarie E. (Hassold) Hering, 93, a retired seamstress, passed away Monday, June 17, 2013. She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur W. Hering. Born in Leonberg, Germany, a daughter of the late Frederich and Pauline (Kimmerle) Hassold, she resided in Pawtucket before moving to Cumberland in 1966. Annemarie was a member of the Central Falls Senior Center and the German Hall in Pawtucket. She leaves a son, Frank David Hering of Littleton, Mass.; a daughter, Ingrid G. Vigeant of Santa Ana, Calif.; two grandsons, Mark James and Patrick James; and a great-grandson, Matthew. She was the mother of the late R. Dieter Maier and the sister of the late Berta Stancar. Services will be held Thursday, June 20 at 2 p.m. at the Swan Point Cemetery Redwood Chapel, 585 Blackstone Blvd., Providence. Visitation and flowers are omitted.
