NGB News USA Hockey & U.S. Figure Skating , For the 2021-2022 hockey season USA Hockey and their Program Services department will be participating in a number of 'Grow the Game' initiatives, including two National Try Hockey for Free Days and the IIHF World Girls' Ice Hockey Weekend. National Try Hockey for Free days, a joint effort between USA Hockey and the National Hockey League and its member teams, provide youth hockey associations with a national platform and opportunity to acquire new players locally. By participating in this initiative, associations will attract new players for the season as well as capture interested families for the following season. This year's dates are November 6th, 2021 and March 5th, 2022. USA Hockey will provide a limited number of jerseys, on- and off- ice guidelines, USA Hockey sanctioning, promotional tools, best practices on attracting new families and national marketing. Associations can also host Try Hockey for Free (THFF) custom events outside of the two national dates and still use the USA Hockey THFF platform. Jerseys are not available on custom days. In October, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) will celebrate girl hockey players of all ages through their World Girls' Ice Hockey Weekend. USA Hockey encourages players, parents, associations and rinks around the country to participate in World Girls' Hockey Weekend to build awareness, celebrate current female hockey players and grow participation from coast to coast. 28 / JULY.AUGUST.2021 USICERINKS.COM , Join us in celebrating five years of skating to great!
