BACK TO LA PAZ! It has now been four years since we last made this unique journey down the Baja Peninsula. Although many challenges had to be overcome, the SCORE staff was able to succeed once again to being able to provide a peninsula run race adventure that has been the iconic cornerstone of off-road motorsports with world-wide notoriety. Check-out the race preview section for a little history, current team line-ups, course map, and hotel directories for Ensenada and La Paz. We also have updates on the championship chase battles that will be waged at the 54th BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 1000 Presented by 4 Wheel Parts this November. For SCORE race action, the 2nd Annual SCORE Baja 400 Presented by VP Racing Fuels provided much more than what most of the teams expected. A very technical course with many challenges made this race a tough one to finish, let alone podium. See all the class stories in this issue, as these finishes also determine many of the teams’starting positions for the SCORE Baja 1000. As a final note, there is always an army of individuals that have helped SCORE move forward over the past five decades and grow the race experience and exposure for off-road motorsports in general. Sadly, we recently lost a few of these special individuals. We pay tribute to Baja’s Oscar Kawanishi and SCORE racing icons and Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame inductees, Dave Ashley and Dick Landfield. Their legacies for their contributions to the SCORE history and for being just great people who made sacrifices to make it all happen, has been well documented. A final Via Con Dios, at this moment in time, but their accomplishments will always be remembered.
