dinners for beginners Spaghetti Squash Contributed by Patricia There is literally nothing easier than making spaghetti squash. You take the squash. It's yellow, round, and the labelled spaghetti squash at the store, so there can be no confusion. You stab it several times at home - yes, you can picture your annoying coworkers or that one guy from Facebook - until it's delightfully covered in little holes. So not only is it stress relief and delicious, it is healthy. Make it in the microwave for a time-saving tip. Ingredients · 1 spaghetti squash · ¼ cup water · 2 tablespoons butter or oil of your choice · salt and pepper to taste · Jar of pasta sauce (whatever you are in the mood for) 1) Stab spaghetti squash with a fork/knife until you are satisfied. Place in the microwave 3-4 minutes but do not cook longer than 5 minutes whole. 2) Take out the squash from the microwave and slice from top to bottom lengthwise. Be careful. You may burn yourself if you aren't paying attention. Using a spoon, remove seeds and pulp and discard. 3) Place 1/4 cup water in the bottom of a small casserole dish. The dish has to be microwavable, or it will shatter. It's happened to me so that it can happen to you. Add squash cut side down. 4) Microwave another 6-10 minutes or until the squash is easily pierced through the skin with a fork. 5) Remove from microwave. Gently run a fork from top to bottom, creating strands of spaghetti-like food. Season with butter, salt and pepper. Top with sauce. Mix. If it isn't hot enough, pop it in the microwave some more.
