Post-Race Awards Ceremony By SCORE Journal Staff Photos by Get Some Photo Crowds gathered at the finish line in La Paz, Mexico to celebrate racers who won their classes and those who finished. In conjunction with the Baja California Sur and La Paz governments, SCORE International held a post-race awards ceremony to honor the first, second and third-place finishers in all classes. Among the dignitaries present at the ceremony included Maribel Collins Sanchez, Baja California Sur Secretary of Economy and Tourism representing the Baja California Sur Governor, Victor Castro Cossio. “We want to thank all of the participating teams that raced in the SCORE Baja 1000, and we want to thank SCORE International for organizing this race which took four years to return to Baja California Sur. It has helped to reactivate our state’s economy.” Also present were Milena Paola Quiroga Moreno, Mayor of La Paz, Fernando Ojeda Aguilar, Undersecretary of Tourism, Thalia Agundez, State Director of Promotion, and Arturo Nava, Tourism Advisor, as well as SCORE International representatives. Mexican government dignitaries and the city of La Paz representatives were present during the awards ceremonies SCORE fans cheered as Rob MacCachren and Luke McMillin came up to receive their First Place SCORE Trophy Truck trophies and a check from BFGoodrich Tires for $40k. 1x team co-riders Brandon Prieto (left) and Kendall Norman, accepted the first place award for the Samuels team in Pro Moto Unlimited Javi Valenzuela, navigator for the Vildosola team, accepted the Governor’s Award honoring the fastest Mexican team to finish the race Mexican Navy Admiral Marquez spoke on the Navy’s 200-year history Maribel Collins Sanchez, BaJa California Sur Secretary of Economy & Tourism, said how proud BaJa Sur was to have SCORE racing back in their area of the state Mayor of La Paz, Milena Paola Quiroga Moreno, also thanked SCORE International in bringing the race to the city and its impact on local business
