SCORE PERSON OF THE YEAR Miguel Torruco Marques Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism SCORE President/Race Director Jose A. Grijalva and SCORE General Manager Juan Tintos Funcke teamed up to honor Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marques, as the 2021 SCORE Person of the Year. Miguel Torruco Marques has been an outstanding figure in Mexico’s Tourism industry for more than 40 years, serving as President of the National Hotel Association and the National Tourism Conference, as well as Tourism Vice-President of the National Chamber of Restaurants and as the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico City. As of 2018, Marques was appointed to Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism by President Andrés Manuel Lopez Obtador. By November of 2019, with the support of Baja California Senator and SCORE International Champion Gerardo Novelo, the Mexican Federal Secretary of Tourism (SECTUR) signed a Strategic Alliance with SCORE International, a distinction only achieved by NASCAR and Formula One. Through this joint effort, the MEXICO promotional brand and SCORE World a Desert Championship have been positioned on a national and international level, recognizing SCORE races for their important contribution both to Baja California and Mexico. “SCORE International is proud to name Miguel Torruco Marques Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism as the 2021 SCORE PERSON OF THE YEAR due to his important support and facilitation to organize our four races in such a challenging year,” said Tintos Funke.
