8 GUESTLIST Issue 53 / 2013 www.guestlist.net BCM Planet Dance Photographer: Charles Turner We returned to super club BCM Planet Dance this summer for the second year running for another dose of crazy parties, quality music and absolutely amazing vibes. One thing is certain, as soon as you step foot in Mallorca all sense of time is lost and having fun is at the forefront of everyone's mind, which to be fair is not hard on this party island especially with a club like BCM on your doorstep. Our week kicked off on Monday night with Cream Mallorca presenting us with Axwell, once one third of Swedish House Mafia this guy really knows how to work the crowd and put on a killer performance. Dropping his smash hit 'Don't You Worry Child' towards the end of his set, he was welcomed with echoes of chanting and roaring that were bouncing off the walls and the energy was electric. The following evening Judge Jules headed up his Judgement Tuesday Night with special guest Eddie Halliwell. The UV themed party was embraced by the thousands of party goers, and the fluorescent crowd were glowing brightly in the dark whilst partying hard to one of Britain's veterans in dance music, Judge Jules. Eddie Halliwell fed on the energy whilst repping his usual showmanship, he pulled in the masses. By Wednesday we were in full swing and enjoying the 'Magga' vibes, Cream Mallorca were back topping the bill and this time round they welcomed superstar resident Calvin Harris. Holding his residency at the club throughout July and August, this is one of the prominence shows that everyone wants to witness. Cream returns this year to take over Mondays and Wednesdays at BCM presenting some of the world's biggest dance acts to the stage, with Calvin at the height of this. Bringing along a few friends on the night caused quite a commotion especially when they come in the form of chart toppers Example and Rita Ora. We were ready for a special show, and he certainly did not disappoint. Jumping around, clapping his hands and punching the air he dropped classic tunes from 'Your Not Alone' and 'We Found Love' ft Rihanna in which the whole crowd were screaming every lyric. Playing the selection of chart dominating tracks, a highlight for us was watching everyone go mad for Florence and The Machine 'You Got The Love' dropping in sequence with the megatron ice cannons to create a complete euphoric experience. Calvin proved why he is one of the most sort after DJs right now and joins the select few DJ's that can hold the crowd in the palm of their hand with every single tune they play. One thing's for sure, Cream really do know how to throw a good party and complete with their epic lineup over the season at this superclub this pulls together the ingredients of a successful partnership. Our week ended on a high with DJ legend Dave Pearce stepping up to the decks, having been in the game for years he continues to be at the forefront of the UK dance scene. Known for playing crowd-pleasing uplifting trance tracks, Pearce shows that he can still command a set better than other long standing DJ. Having just finished mixing and compiling the official BCM Mallorca 2013 CD which is due out this month, this was the classic finish to an epic few days. BCM plays host to some of the biggest artists around and with their diverse, cross genre lineups in conjunction with some of the top brands in the world there is music to cater for everyone. From Cream Mallorca's impressive acts throughout the season with the likes of Calvin Harris, Steve Angello, Steve Aoki and Avicii all gracing the box, to Mistajam Presents Speakerbox with Iggy Azalea, Labrinth and Tinie Tempah and Mallorca Live UKF with the likes of DJ Fresh and Benga, whatever you're into a night is catered for you. Offering a unlimited bar in both rooms all night, it's hard to find a club to compete in its league. With almost every DJ in electronic music having passed through the club and Director Gordon's 'infamous' office, this club has everything you seek for. It delivers the whole package with state of the art lighting, visuals, lasers, dancers and an impressive 65,000W Funktion1 Sound system this is clubbers paradise. Celebrating their 25th Anniversary this year, they have built themselves up to be the ultimate clubbing destination for the thousands of ravers that fill through their doors each season each year. Their reputation has been cemented in history, currently topped at Number 6 in DJ Mag's Top 100 clubs poll this year it is set to carry on being one of the best clubs in the world to visit. Having met some great people, witnessed some crazy ass parties, listened to some of the hottest artists in music from some the of biggest club labels there is only one thing left to say...Get your flight booked to Mallorca and your tickets for BCM, as you are guaranteed to come back with some great memories and of course the biggest hangover of your life. (But hey, what was you expecting...it was worth it!) A big shout out to Gordon Phillips, Nicola Lang and Alex Jukes at Juxebox PR for looking after us and showing us a great time! Bring on next year... Top places to eat •Foxy's - Amazing fresh salads and pizzas. •The Boat Yard - Great home cooked food and hearty grub. •Crusoe's - Incredible chicken burgers and good fast food.
