Student Spotlight
is a third year veterinary student at TAMU College of Veterinary
Medicine. Originally from Eagle Point, OR, Ms. Caldwell joined
TEVA after attending the 2021 Summer CE Symposium as a student volunteer. During the Symposium
week she was very involved in the TEVA Foundation Auction and Gala. You might recognize her from
her involvement in the Gala!
She has a special interest in reproduction and is a member of the Society for Theriogenology as a
student representative and the SCAAEP. Ms. Caldwell is on the Equine track with post-graduation
plans for an equine internship.
In the fall of 2021, Ms. Caldwell was one of the recipients of the TEVA Foundation Equine Experience
Scholarship. She used this money to attend the 2021 AAEP Convention in Nashville and send the following note to
the Foundation Board of Directors:
Hello Sara,
I was awarded the TEVA Travel Scholarship to attend the 2021 AAEP Convention in Nashville. I just wanted to extend a massive thank
you to all donors that contributed to the travel scholarship. I was taken aback at how captivated I was by the whole experience. In
my mind it was going to be an educational event, where I would get to learn about some of the latest research being done in equine
medicine. However, what struck me most was the camaraderie I witnessed and felt among equine practitioners. It made me very
hopeful for my own equine veterinary career one day.
It is an exceptional opportunity to attend AAEP as a student, and I
hope this gift continues to be extended to students in the future.
Thank you for this opportunity,
Laurel Caldwell
