• 7 • MESSAGE FROM THE Point For TEVA, end-of-the-year activities slow down (but not too much) a bit regarding behind-the-scenes workload. We continue to have scheduled board of directors and subcommittee meetings with the goal of keeping the organization progressive and moving toward our goal of providing the best equine continuing education for our members. In saying that, please remember that the 2022 TEVA summer symposium will be held in Fort Worth at the Worthington Renaissance Hotel August 4–6. The 2022 summer symposium will be a wet lab-based meeting, so be ready for some excellent hands-on continuing education. Two big projects that the TEVA board of directors is currently working on include: 1. Value added programs for its members. We are trying to develop a platform that would provide members with monthly access to online presentations from professionals covering topics important to running successful practices. A few examples would be succession planning, becoming a partner in a business or buying a practice, H/R strategies, generational gaps, and tax planning. 2. TVMA has approached TEVA for collaboration. Their number one reason for this initiative is to expand the TVMA membership with the equine veterinarians in Texas. Their expectation is for TEVA members to be engaged members identifying, developing, and leading on the issues that affect the equine portion of our industry so TVMA can develop appropriate actions to promote, protect and advocate for the profession. TVMA provides the infrastructure for advocacy and they want to provide this for all equine practitioners in the State, both TVMA and TEVA members. TEVA's CE platform will remain TEVA's CE platform. If you have any interest in being on a committee for TEVA, please contact any of the board of directors or Sara Green directly (sara@texasequineva.com). There is also a list of committees on the TEVA website (www.texasequineva.com); go to the home page, click on "membership," and select "join a committee." It is that easy to get involved. We hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukah, and a Happy New Year. Don't forget to encourage your colleagues to become members and/or renew their membership.
