UTV SPECIAL SECTION A Closer Look At Manufacturer Involvement, Racers, And Parts By Dan Sanchez Photos by Get Some Photo, Polaris, And Proctor Racing When you combine all the various SCORE UTV Classes together, it’s one of the largest currently in SCORE. Back in 2013, SCORE created an official Pro UTV Class for racers to compete at a high level in Baja. Since then, the vehicles have become larger, faster and with more capability that classes had to be changed to accommodate the variety of vehicles coming from manufacturers. As the vehicles improved in performance, they also improved in the components required to race in Baja. With vehicles like the Polaris RZR, the “Official UTV of SCORE,” manufacturers are clearly implementing on what they have learned racing in Baja. Compared to some of the first UTVs to race, the modern vehicles are mostly made up of stock components that have been improved upon from off-road racing. This alone is changing how these vehicles are prepared for racing, and allowing more SCORE fans to actually become racers. In this UTV special section, SCORE Journal looks into what the manufacturers have achieved from racing in Baja. It was also important to get a perspective from the racers, and where they think these vehicles will improve upon in the future. While not all SCORE fans and UTV enthusiasts can be sponsored by a manufacturer, they can however upgrade their current and older model UTVs to perform better. The 2022 UTV Accessory guide has a variety of aftermarket components from various manufacturers for popular models.
