THE SPECIAL ONES
Every equine veterinarian has patients that seem like members of the practice
family. Some are quirky, some have funny habits, and some are just loveable.
When those ponies reach the end of their days, whether due to illness, injury, or
just old age, it is a sad event for those that have taken care of them, sometimes
since birth.
We also have those special clients that have been loyal through thick and thin,
that will follow instructions to the letter and heap praises on us at every turn.
When they lose a horse that too saddens us.
As my practice matures (nice way to say I'm getting old) these sad occurrences
are more often and have caused me to reflect on the horses and folks that have
touched my life. This has led me to consider an appropriate way to acknowledge
them. What better way than to donate to the TEVA Foundation.
Your donation helps support the foundation further its goals to:
• Provide scholarships
• Help with disaster relief
• Support equitarian projects
• Fund research projects and student activities
• Help support the AAEP's Equine Disease Communication Center
Your donation will be acknowledged to the owner by a letter from the
foundation. This helps to inform those clients not only of your memorial
contribution, but also to make them aware of the work our foundation does with
the funds.
So the next time you feel that tug at your heartstrings for that special patient or
an exceptional owner, go to the computer and memorialize their life. You will feel
good and hopefully it will ease their loss.
