TIME TRAVELING Wayne Matlock Pushes The SCORE Pro UTV Class To A New Level By Dan Sanchez Photos by GetSomePhoto At the King Shocks 35th SCORE San Felipe 250, Wayne Matlock in his No. 1871 Polaris RZR Pro R finished the race with a time of 6:08:50, winning the SCORE Pro UTV Overall and Pro UTV Open class. The extremely fast finish time, however, was better than half of the Class 10 competitors and faster than all but one of the Class 7 competitors in this race. This prompted SCORE Officials to move up the starting position of the Pro UTV Open class to start behind Class 10 racers for the rest of the 2022 season and beyond. “The Polaris RZR Pro R has been awesome,” said Matlock. “As you do with any new vehicle, we had to figure a few things out, and I think we had it set up right for this race. The course was tough and we had our challenges, but we also learned a lot. The car was pretty solid and amazing with its stock drivetrain, powertrain, and suspension. With this win, we will carry that momentum for the SCORE Baja 500.” Kristen Matlock also raced in the Pro UTV Open class in a brand new Polaris RZR Pro R of her own (No. 1854). “She broke down on the course, but she will finish. She’s my toughest competition on the course and will not be happy that I beat her,” Matlock said with a laugh. “We both have different racing styles but if we can get one of our cars on the winner’s box, it’s all worth the effort.”
