1 1 SCORE JOURNAL 3 PUBNOTE BACK TO THE MALECON! The 2022 SCORE World Desert Championship series was introduced in spectacular fashion at the King Shocks 35th SCORE San Felipe 250 season opener, taking place March 30th - April 3rd. This race celebrated the return of the racer and fan experience that has not been possible for more than two years due to COVID protocols. This involved a return to the legendary San Felipe beach front Malecon location for Contingency and Race days, where SCORE fans were allowed back to the start / finish line area, along with being present on Contingency day. This gave racers and fans the experience they longed for, once again. The racer's enthusiasm was great, with 276 entries making this race the third largest racer field in its 35-year history. Additional big news for this race was the large number of class entries in the premier SCORE Trophy Truck, Trophy Truck Spec and UTV classes. Read all the details in this issue. The King Shocks 35th SCORE San Felipe 250 was also the place for yet another historical event, as Luke McMillin's overall race win gave BFGoodrich Tires its 100th Overall SCORE victory! This is a huge testament that illustrates a great product's attributes, but also BFGoodrich's long term investment in their tire product technology, and other items in the series growth such as the BFG Pits, and the largest race purse payouts to teams on their tire over many years. Speaking of tires, in this April issue we focus on the tire category, which is the #1 "planned-to-purchase product in the next 12 months." We speak with the major information sources from top tire manufacturers in our market regarding the current status and the future of off-road tire technology. This market overview is followed by our Annual Tire Product guide, providing direct information from the participating tire manufacturers.
