The Nittany Lions started drills back on March 21 and finished them with the Blue-White Game in front of 62,000 fans at Beaver Stadium on April 23. Like every year except 2020 when there was no spring ball because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Lions en- tered their first on-field work of the year with many new faces and more than a few key questions to answer. Some boxes have now been checked. But others won't be filled in until the summer months … or later. Super senior Sean Clifford is un- doubtedly the leading man under cen- ter. That's true even with Christian Veilleux back in the quarterback room alongside Clifford and true freshmen Drew Allar and Beau Pribula. So m e fa n s h ave been clamoring for a competition. How- ever, there's no reason to believe that Clifford won't be the one tak- ing snaps when Penn State opens its season Sept. 1 at Purdue. The running backs room has been infused with tal- ent, with freshmen Nick Singleton and Kaytron Al- len both flashing behind likely starter Keyvone Lee, a third-year sophomore.
