J.J. Keller added a driver's dashboard to its mobile ELD application that shows drivers an instant clock-style visual view of how much drive time they have remaining. With Zonar Systems' 2020 mobile communications tablet, drivers can view their logbook grid while seeing real-time information in the tile boxes along the side, such as current time remaining on their 11-hour driving and 14-hour on-duty status, as well as other warnings like excess speed and idling. Blue Tree Systems' ELD has an HOS Advisor feature to keep drivers informed of "Drive Time Remaining" at all times. By touching a button, the screen displays the options available for drivers to use their available hours to maximize driving time. The options are based on current HOS status and save drivers the hassle of performing complex and time-consuming calculations, the company says. Webtech Wireless updated its Hours of Service calculations to detect valid 34-hour resets and ignore invalid ones so that the remaining hours available are calculated appropriately. Its Quadrant fleet management system allows edits to the driver logs so dispatchers or drivers can indicate which reset to use when multiple resets occur within one week. PeopleNet has set up automated messages to advise drivers when certain events will occur, such as when they will become eligible to use the 34-hour restart provision. For safety purposes, many ELDs limit the amount of information drivers see while the vehicle is in motion. The Inthinc system shows drivers their remaining available drive time along with their speed and how it compares with the posted speed limit.
