Dear GOAL Indoor, My town has a healthy youth soccer organization. Although we are only 60,000 people, there are over 300,000 within a 30minute drive. There is no indoor soccer facility at this time. I have been talking with several people about the possibility of opening one. I grew up playing in Memphis, TN, and we saw several soccer only facilities close within the first few years due to financial troubles. I played at one facility in Jackson, MS, that also had a gym, pool and workout facility. It has done well. What do you think are the keys to success for such a facility. Population, expenses, rates to charge, size, amenities, etc.? Thank you, Ben, AR Dear Ben, The $1 million question! We suggest your completing USIndoor's online request for information, located on our "Facilities" page and marking the box for a consultant. Before embarking on any venture of such magnitude, it makes good business sense to conduct a feasibility study and to glean as much as possible from the experts who have walked down the path you are steering for. Dear GOAL Indoor, Wow! What a great site! My husband and I are looking into starting an indoor soccer club in North Carolina. I am a huge soccer fan indoors and out. I was first introduced to indoor soccer when the Athletic Clubhouse opened in Maryland several years ago. (That is where I grew up.) Mr. Bill Cassidy, a wonderful role model for any child, was my ref co-ordinator. He taught the classes and administered the classes where I earned my first reffing badge and job. I started reffing indoors soon after, but noticed that not all facilities had the same rules, I am so glad that things are starting to change! I have been out of the soccer loop since I got married 5 years ago, followed soon by 3 children. I would really like to jump back in, hopefully landing on two feet! Would you all have any ideas on where to start looking for information on how to open an indoor soccer arena? I am definitely going to order your book of rules and get together with the local reffing association here. If we ever get up and running... do you all send folks down here to train or do we send our folks to you? I know so many questions! Thank you so much for any advise!
