USIndoor's online Publications page. There you may order a rule book and subscribe to GOAL Indoor, which features a continuous stream of news and information about indoor soccer and its variant forms. Thank you for your inquiry. START-UP Mail Bag THANK YOU Dear Goal Indoor, Itʼs great to have a national indoor soccer publication once again. I was an avid fan during the MISLʼs heyday in the early to mid-1980ʼs, and I believe that it can reach those heights again with proper management and vision. Steve Ryan brings the most ability to the table as commissioner since Earl Foreman. Keep up the good work. Sincerely, Carl Smukall, Batavia, NY Goal Indoor is an impressive publication. I gave copies to our publications director and our soccer liaison. I also received your rule book, and we were able to use the playing field in that just fine. Thanks again for all your help. I really appreciate it. Chris, National Federation of State High School Associations, Indianapolis, IN FROM PLAYERS AND FANS I read your article in the May edition of GOAL Indoor regarding the debate over the scoring rules in the new MISL. My opinion is that the scoring rules should be kept traditional. I.e., one point for any type of goal scored. Dave Cunningham, Kellre, TX Dear USIndoor: I am new to the game and would like to know what's what of this most interesting game. Could you please direct me to where I could get a hold of these: 1) Official rule book of indoor soccer 2) Official field size etc. 3) All variations of indoor soccer played Thank you. Sue-Ann, TN Dear Sue-Ann, For a copy of the Official Rules, including field specifications and marking, please visit Dear USIndoor, We are working for a client who is creating an indoor soccer club in New England. I am looking for a source to purchase the field wall boards. My understanding is that hockey rink walls are the standard. Is this so and who sells them? Also we would like clarification on the standard field size and configuration used for league and club play. Thank you for your response. Kyle, NH Dear Kyle, You may find many of the resources and answers to your questions on USIndoor's Classifieds and Facilities pages. While on the Facilities page, please complete the informational request form to receive additional leads. To obtain a copy of the Official Rules, including field specifications and markings, please visit our Publications page. Thank you for your inquiries. Hi, I'm part of a group trying to build a multi-sport facility in Colorado that will offer indoor soccer. We're looking for demographic data to support the need for a facility of this type. Would you have any such data or be able to point us in the right direction to get it? We're looking for the number of players in Colorado, broken down by County if possible, or the number of teams, and the ages of players. Plus the trends in the US and in Colorado towards participation in indoor soccer. Also, we'd like information on your association, the benefits of joining, the costs, etc. Thanks so much! Stephanie, CO programs for active facilities. Regarding statistical data about indoor soccer, USIndoor is conducting a national survey, whose results (expected in late June) should answer some of your other questions. For general statistical information about soccer, we recommend your contacting the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association. For more information about benefits and related programming, or to become a USIndoor Facility Member, please refer to USIndoor's Website. For direct assistance with your project, please complete USIndoor's online request for information, located on USIndoorʼs online Facilities page. Good luck. Dear GOAL Indoor, I'm trying to find out the dimensions of an indoor soccer arena. Do you modify it to ages? Would a gymnasium work? Toni, TX Dear Ms. Phillips, While 180 x 75 feet is generally accepted as the standard for indoor soccer fields, actual dimensions do vary, in large part depending on the space with which one has to work. For a copy of the Official Rules, including field markings, please see USIndoor's online e Publications page. Thank you for your question. In our May issue we asked: Can you name these players Dear Stephanie, Thank you for your inquiry and for your interest in USIndoor. As described in its Website, Jim Spiegelhalter, from Gladstone, MO, answered correctly that the players depicted USIndoor's mission is to support are Louie Nanchoff (left) and Gino Schiraldi (right), of the Cleveland Force and indoor soccer and its members Kansas City Comets, respectively (MISL).
