The Legacy Fund is Minnesota Hockey's newest grant program, and it's designed to assist individuals, families, organizations or associations in need of financial support to overcome hardships, or to overcome tragedies. In its first year, the Legacy Fund distributed over $30,000 to Minnesota Hockey members. There is no deadline for applications, although allocation decisions will be made on a first-come, first-serve basis and continue until all resources are exhausted for the 2022-23 season. Those wishing to help or support those in their local hockey community can fill out an application at any time. Applications can be filled out online at minnesotahockey.org/legacyfund. A NE W LEGACY IN MINNESOTA COACHES C ORNER All coaches must enter USA Hockey's Coaching Education Program (CEP) at Level 1 and continue with a clinic each year until, at a minimum, they achieve Level 4. Coaches must complete their CEP clinic by Dec. 31. Effective in the 2022-23 season, coaching certification at Levels 4 and 5 is valid for three seasons, as indicated by the expiration date. Before the expiration of their level, coaches must accumulate 5 credit hours of continuing education by either taking Level 5, or by attending other USA Hockey continuing education clinics. The USA Hockey clinic listings will indicate all continuing education offerings and the credit value of each. 21 2022-2023 MINNESOTA HOCKEY SEASON PRIMER // MHJ A NE W LEGACY IN MINNESOTA USA Hockey has also launched new age module training videos for this season. All coaches must still complete the appropriate age-specific training modules for their age group before taking the ice or being placed on a team roster.
