"Sometimes you just know in your gut that things might not work out, and somebody might not be happy. I don't want a player to be like that," Guerin said of Talbot. "Sometimes it 's best to just move on. … I know Cam, he's a no BS guy, and so am I. So let 's just try to make every- body happier and we'll just part ways." The Wild, in the midst of a cap squeeze that will see them with a salary cap ceil- ing $12.7 million less than most other teams in the NHL because of last summer's Zach Parise-Ryan Suter buyout, gained an extra $2.879 million in cap space by trading Talbot. That gave them $4.3 million in avail- able space heading into free agency, but by mid-August, the Wild didn't sign a single player or yet execute a trade. "A long with getting Filip, the added cap space was definitely a bonus," Guerin "Why not? Why can't we win? Hey, look, maybe I'm a fool, but that's just the way I think." -GM Bill Guerin
