Howdy,
Fall is finally in the air…somewhat! Aer the long dry summer, these cooler
mornings feel amazing.
Many thanks to all of you who attended the Annual Symposium and Foun-
dation Gala in Fort Worth! is year was one for the record books in many
ways: highest DVM attendance, highest technician attendance, highest total
raised for the Foundation.
Last year we made a big push to support students at LSU, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M. We are
continuing those efforts this year. If you are close to those schools and want to get in on the student interactions,
please let us know. We would love to get you involved.
We are partnering with the Decade One mentor program and supporting their new program for students, Starting
Gate. We will provide more details about this program as this year progresses.
We are also continuing our TEVA Chatting at the Chicken events in all our college towns. Please let us know if you
are interested in getting involved.
We are also continuing our discussions for how to support recruitment and retention of equine veterinary students
and recent graduates. We must do a better job of advocating for equine practice! We are looking at ways to contin-
ue the conversations regarding retention of new graduates. If you want to be involved in these discussions, please
let us know. We would like to move forward from discussions to solutions this year.
e Texas Equine Foundation is continuing it's work in the areas of student support, disaster response, and benev-
olence. ank you for your generous support of the Foundation! ey are doing things that we should all take great
pride in helping to support.
Plans are underway for next year's Symposium! You won't want to miss it. e 2023 meeting in Cowtown will
surpass 2022!
Sincerely,
Leslie
