SAND SPORTS SUPER SHOW 2022 UTVs and Off-Road Vehicles Are Unleashed In SoCal By SCORE Journal Staff Photos by Steven Olsewski, Bonnier Corp The world of UTVs, Sand Rails, and Off-Road vehicles is celebrated annually at the Sand Sports Super Show, held at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, California. This was the first show since 2020 due to COVID, and fans came in large numbers to see what they had missed in the latest parts and accessories for their vehicles. The show was held the weekend of September 17-19th and offered a multitude of specialty parts manufacturers, retailers, and vendors with deals on parts for UTVs and other off-road vehicles. 4 Wheel Parts (an official SCORE Sponsor) was present with deals on everything from safety equipment like seats and harnesses to specials on wheels, tires, and more. One of the big attractions at the event was SCORE Champion and racer Robby Gordon, who was showcasing his new Speed UTV pre-production models to crowds of people who have seen the vehicles on social media and were interested to see how they looked and performed up close. Gordon introduced his latest UTV called “El Jeffe,” a four-door with a price tag of just under $42K, but with lots of equipment to tackle every type of terrain, including Baja. The corporate UTV manufacturers, Polaris, Can-Am, and Yamaha, were also present at the show showcasing new features with their latest 2023 models. Since each UTV manufacturer has its stable of off-road racers, autograph sessions with these popular drivers were one of the highlights of the show. Spectators were also entertained by live events happening at the Fox Factory Proving Grounds, where off-road vehicles performed jumps, drifting, and other maneuvers during various shows happening throughout the weekend. Aside from new parts and accessories, the Sand Sports Super Show also featured various off-road coalition and land-use advocacy organizations informing show-goers about preservation and the fight to keep areas open for OHV use. Organizations such as the CORVA, Tread Lightly, Friends of Oceano Dunes, San Diego Off-Road Coalition, the American Sand Association, and others were on hand to offer information and how to become more informed of new and pending regulations, as well as how to become a part of the voice of the growing off-road community. Of course, Sand Rails are still a large part of the S4 Show. Real race vehicles like this Ford Bronco was one of several at the show. Pre-runners also took part in the Fox Factory Proving Grounds catching air and drifting for attendees. Adding sound to your UTV is no problem with the systems offered by manufacturers such as Rockford Fosgate. If you were shopping for deals, the S4 was the place to get them on parts, accessories, and specialty tires. Source: Bonnier Events https://www.bonnierevents.com/ (317) 231-5865
