FORSYTH PARK
A 30-acre lush green space in the heart
of town, Forsyth Park is home to one
of Savannah's most photographed sights:
the Forsyth Fountain, erected in 1858.
Forsyth Park also features basketball
and tennis courts, two playgrounds (one
of which is handicap-accessible) and a
half-shell outdoor amphitheater that
hosts outdoor concerts periodically.
Enjoy a lavender latte at Collins Quarter
at Forsyth cafe next door.
JONES STREET
Labeled one of "the prettiest streets
in America" and lined with towering live oak
trees, Greek Revival homes and 19th-century
architecture, Jones Street makes for
a picturesque stroll. At the intersection
of Jones and Whitaker streets, you'll find
the Downtown Design District, which offers
fabulous boutique shopping and world-
famous Southern fare at Mrs. Wilkes
Dining Room.
WORMSLOE STATE HISTORIC SITE
Drive down the stunning mile-plus
corridor of live oaks to find the tabby
ruins of the estate of Noble Wimberly
Jones, a key figure in Savannah's
founding. Since the mid-1730s,
Wormsloe State Historic Site has been
a military outpost, plantation, country
home and farm. Now, visitors enjoy
exploring the winding nature trails
and learning more about Savannah's
history in the museum.
