2023 F-SERIES SUPER DUTY Ford’s HD Pickups Go To The Next Level By Elijah Sanchez Photography Courtesy Ford Moto Co. The new 2023 F-Series Super Duty takes Ford’s most popular heavy-duty pickup to the next level with class-leading towing, payload, torque, and horsepower abilities. These new upgrades combined with Super Duty’s new integrated 5G capability and new software to maximize connectivity and productivity, create one of the most desirable pickups to hit the market. CEO of Ford Pro, Ted Cannis, stated, “Super Duty is a name that is trusted to get the job done, and our customers have helped to make it the most popular commercial truck in America, bar none… With state-of-the-art technology, including a 5G modem connected to a powerful ecosystem of productivity-boosting software and services, the all-new Super Duty can seamlessly shift from workhorse to office of the future.” Broadest Range of Engines In The Class The new Super Duty offers the broadest range of engines in the class with four powerful and capable engine options to choose from. The first is a new 6.8-liter gas engine which comes standard with improved lower-end torque for better starting and merging. This engine makes 400 horsepower and 445 lbs.-ft. torque. Also available is a 7.3-liter V8 (430 horsepower, 485 lbs.ft. torque) with improved air intake and tuning targeting the best horsepower and torque in the class. For owners who need to stay on sites longer, a 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 diesel allows for longer intervals between oil changes (475 horsepower, 1,050 lbs.-ft. torque). Finally, a new high-output 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 diesel is available with an upgraded exhaust and unique turbo and tuning, targeting the best horsepower and torque in the class (500 horsepower, 1,200 lbs.-ft. torque). Transmission and Chassis Super Duty features a 10-speed TorqShift® automatic transmission and every chassis cab model is standard with a power take-off connection to run any extra equipment like boom lifts, cranes, and lights. For even more equipment capabilities, the new Ford Pro Upfit Integration System provides aftermarket equipment makers with access to Super Duty’s electrical system to operate their hardware and equipment from the truck’s digital display. Pro Power On Board is also new for Super Duty for more exportable power, with 2.0-kilowatts of output and outlets located inside the truck or mounted on chassis cabs. Four-wheel drive also now comes standard on XLT models and above. For F-250 and F-350 models, an available XL Off-Road package offers 4x4 single rear wheels and 33-inch tires, along with a raised air dam, water-fording axle vent tubes, skid plates, and an electronically locked rear differential. The Tremor Off-Road Package offers 18-inch wheels and 35-inch Goodyear tires, a lifted front-end, a Dana front axle with limited-slip differential and axle tubes, and selectable drive modes including: Trail Control, Rock-Crawl Mode, and Trail Turn Assist. Industry-First Towing Capabilities And Saftey Features According to Ford, approximately 96 percent of heavy-duty pickup owners use their trucks to tow. This statistic is reflected in the industry-first new driver assist technologies and targeted best-in-class payload and towing for a simplified and safer towing experience. A trailer attachable Blind Spot Information System indicates on the side view mirrors when vehicles are next to the trailer. For even more visibility, a 360-Degree Trailer Camera System gives an aerial view of the trailer to eliminate any blind spots. An industry-first available Tailgate Down Camera and Tailgate Down Reverse Sensing System offer even more visibility with a new camera and reverse sensors at the top of the tailgate for better visual and audible alerts for easier reversing and hitching. To simplify the hitching process even further, Pro Trailer Hitch Assist makes backing up and aligning the hitch ball to the trailer receiver an automatic process. Trailer Navigation also takes into account trailer dimensions and weight to find safe routes to avoid tight turns and low bridges. Onboard scales with Smart Hitch also estimate cargo weight and guide trailer tongue weight distribution on the center touchscreen or FordPass™ app. Even more safety features beyond blind spot elimination and camera angles are available, including: adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go lane centering, trailer theft alert, vehicle security sensors to monitor impact and towing events, fleet start inhibit to schedule timeframes for when the vehicle can be operated, forward and reverse sensing system to warn for objects, front and rear brake assist to prevent low-speed collisions, and full-color head-up display to show information in the driver’s line of sight. Upgraded Rugged and Innovative Exterior An all-new exterior is designed for maximum performance while maintaining a tough, yet refined and modern look. Ford Performance engineered seven new grilles for optimal cooling when hauling heavy loads in addition to long functional side vents to reduce under-hood air pressure. The signature “C-clamp” lighting draws attention back to the front of the truck, further illuminated by available LED headlamps. For added style options, available STX, Sport, and Black Appearance Packages offer trim, wheel, and paint combinations for more customization. Intuitive Interior With Industry-First 5G Capability The interior is also upgraded with intuitive and practical features for an enhanced experience inside the truck whether you are on a job site, hitting the trail off-road, or relaxing at a campsite. An 8-inch center display is standard on the XL model and an available 12-inch display offers a customizable instrument cluster. For a hands-free driving experience, built-in Alexa will handle all your device operations with complimentary connectivity to Alexa for up to three years. With an immersive audio experience with a 630-watt, eight-speaker B&O Sound System and available 1,080-watt, 18-speaker B&O Unleashed Sound System, your audio needs are certainly met. The center console also features a slot for holding a tablet, along with four USB power ports and an available wireless charging pad for all your device charging needs. Max Recline Seats fold horizontally for a nearly flat surface for both maximum interior space, and maximum comfort during downtime. From tackling backroads to business sites, the 2023 Ford Super Duty brings connectivity on the go and is the first pickup in the U.S. with AT&T’s 5G network capability. The embedded 5G modem from Qualcomm Technologies provides a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to ten devices, allowing drivers and passengers to stay connected and experience faster downloads. With Super Duty being one of the most popular business vehicles, business owners will especially benefit from new software tools designed to maximize uptime and productivity, while lowering costs for commercial customers with connected vehicles, software, services, and financing. Tools including Ford Pro, Ford Pro Fleet Management Software, and Ford Pro Telematics help keep track of maintenance needs, vehicle location, driver behavior, wasted idle time, and more. Super Duty also grants customers access to Ford’s Commercial Vehicle Centers, upfitters, Mobile Service Vans, and Ford Pro FinSimple for easier leasing and purchasing. The 2023 Ford F-Series Super Duty goes on sale in early 2023 with some features and trim series available in spring 2023. SJ
