2023 15 M erriam-Webster defines "work ethic" as "a belief in work as a moral good: a set of values centered on the importance of doing work and reflected especially in a desire or determination to work hard." Is that how you would define work ethic in your life? I'd wager it sounds more like some of these: • Working until the work is done. • Working harder (or longer) than anyone else in the office. • Checking and responding to emails whether I'm in the office or not. • Getting anxious when you're not connected to work, worried that you're missing something. • Accepting more work or responsibility as a reward for hard work, for no more compensation. • Working when you're sick. • Working as though more hours = more return for you, even when it never does. If that sounds like you, what you're exhibiting isn't work ethic, it's something else. Some would call it work addiction, or workaholism, or even work anxiety. However, you identify with it, one thing we can agree on: it's not healthy for you or your team. To woRking? ARe you AddiCTed by Chuck Stollery, Membership Director for USIndoor
